The primary target of the Indagon system is to offer very reliable location information of the TETRA terminals equipped with GPS receiver. In addition the system can be used for transporting user status and other telematics information. The primary positioning is based on the high-accuracy GPS location method. The location information is transported over standard protocols specified by ETSI and OMA. Because the position calculations are mobile based, the system inherits an easy scalability to a large number of users. Moreover, the system architecture enables flexible support for high volumes of telematics transactions with virtually the same network infrastructure investments.
The communication between the vehicle units and the positioning platform is done via TETRA SDS messages. This enables reliable and fast tracking of vehicles in almost real-time. On the other hand, to secure the correct functionality and to optimize the network load, Indagon Positioning platform introduces intelligent load control systems. These methods minimize the risks for overloading the TETRA network with large number of location SDS messages. Therefore, the system provides cost efficient and reliable way to transfer:
